A wave of Covid-19 cases at Amazon

Between March 1 and September 19, 2020, Amazon counted 19,816 presumed or confirmed Covid-19 cases across its roughly 1.37 million Amazon and Whole Foods Market frontline employees. The information comes months after labour groups and regulators repeatedly pressed Amazon to disclose how many of its workers were infected by Covid-19. Amazon said the rate of infection among employees was 42% lower than expected and it expects to grow its testing capacity to 50,000 tests a day across 650 facilities by November 2020. Palantir is not living up to the stock market hype
On Thursday, shares of newly IPO’d Palantir Technologies Inc (NYSE: PLTR) fell 5% from its opening trades in its stock market debut. The company went public on Wednesday through a direct listing rather than an IPO, ending a 17-year tradition of secrecy surrounded the software business. Palantir ended the day with a market cap of about $15.7 billion and the CEO, Alex Karp said that going public was the right decision for Palantir. Click here to read more
Bed Bath & Beyond reaped the fruits of E-commerce
Bed Bath & Beyond (NASDAQ: BBBY) reported that its online business surged more than 80% during the quarter, as shoppers stocked up on disposable face masks and college dorm decor. The company said it saw 2 million new customers during the period and its revenue came to $2.69 billion vs $2.60 billion expected. Shares jumped more than 18% in premarket trading.
